Gorakhpur DM Rajeev Rautela said that the cause of the deaths at the BRD Hospital was the disruption in the supply of liquid oxygen and has further appealed to the suppliers to not cut the supply henceforth. But officials said there was nothing extraordinary about the outstanding amount and the hospital, the biggest in Purvanchal, is not facing any fiancial crunch. Supply of liquid oxygen was disrupted yesterday due to pending payment.
The children were admitted at the Baba Raghav Das Hospital in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state. The death of 30 children over two days, has grabbed headlines, but according to a Hindustan Times report, more than 3,000 children have died at the BRD Medical College since 2012.

Expressing his sympathies to the bereaved families, Adityanath said that encephalitis was a big challenge for the state government as well as an emotional issue for him as he have been waging a war against it since 1998.
