Gen. Restituto Padilla Jr. said the possibility that the Philippines could be hit if North Korea proceeded with its threat was "remote".

Calvo, a fellow Republican, responds, "Mr. President, as the governor of Guam representing the people of Guam and as an American citizen, I have never felt more safe or so confident than with you at the helm". We would act. President Trump has basically drawn a red line.

He told the governor, "You seem like a hell of a guy".

"In the president's words they are behind us 1,000 percent". "All over the world they are talking about Guam, and they are talking about you", Mr Trump said. The President and Chief of Staff General John Kelly called Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo and assured him that they are behind Guam 1,000-percent.

Futures lower as North Korea tensions linger
But, so far, we have seen the dollar struggle at this time as the USA itself is involved in the escalation of this risk. Many markets have recently climbed to record or multi-year highs, leaving them vulnerable to a sell-off.

The three-minute conversation was recorded in a video published by Mr Calvo's office. "They should have had me eight years ago, or somebody with my thought process". "We'll see how it all works out but you're not going to have a problem".

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, delivered a stern warning to North Korea amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and the rogue state over its nuclear weapons program.

"I wish there would be less partisanship up there, this is a time of threats to the United States", said Calvo.

"(President Donald Trump is) not going to contain the threat, he's going to stop the threat", Graham, one of the Senate's most hawkish members, said in an interview on "CBS This Morning". Asked if the USA was going to war, he said cryptically, "I think you know the answer to that".

USA states, business will step up to meet Paris climate pledge: Gore
Al Gore: Live In Conversation, followed by a screening of the film, will be in cinemas around the United Kingdom on August 11. Gore told Newsweek that Trump's "intemperate comments on North Korea were really unwise".

"United States forces stand ready to ensure the safety and security of the people of Guam, along with the rest of America", the White House said in a summary of Trump's call with Calvo.

"It looks like a lovely place", he said, inviting Calvo to visit the White House the next time he is in the Lower 48.

Before speaking to Mr Calvo, Mr Trump told reporters in New Jersey that he believed Guam would be "very safe" and threatened North Korea with "big, big trouble" if it launched an attack.

But the newly released fact sheet, entitled "Preparing for an Imminent Missile Threat", makes an abstract worry more concrete. "But you're going to be taken care of".

Unlike Sun, Guam trusts in President Trump
Referring to an "imminent missile threat", it includes advice like: "Do not look at the flash or fireball - it can blind you". Trump opened the conversation by telling Calvo, " Good morning, good morning. "But you're going to be taken care of".
