Barcelona Complete Signing Of Paulinho From Guangzhou Evergrande
13 August 2017, 02:51 | Glen Norman
Paulinho has lifted the Chinese Super League title with Guangzhou Evergrande in his first two seasons
While Daniel Levy is known for being a notoriously tricky negotiator, AS believe Tottenham will still receive none of the €40m Barcelona are paying Guangzhou, with various other European and Brazilian clubs taking a cut and not the Lilywhites.
According to Daily Mail, Guangzhou Evergrand midfielder Paulinho is set to join the Catalan giants, after the club triggered the player's €40million release clause.
They were looking at Marco Verratti, but later turned their heads to Paulinho, a Brazil worldwide playing for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League.
The Brazilian has not hidden his interest in playing for Barcelona and revealed that he was hoping to get a clearance on a deal before the end of the week. It has also been reported that Barcelona have already agreed terms with the player for a move to the Camp Nou.
Paulinho has scored 26 goals in 89 appearances for the Chinese outfit, and was once again called up to the Brazil national team recently. The versatile forward can play either on the left wing - Neymar's position - or through the middle as an attacking midfielder.
Barca have so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to land a more natural replacement for Neymar with huge bids for Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele being rejected by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
"It is Barcelona. I'm happy for him as we have been brothers for the last two years".
"If they don't sell him, then I am not involved any more".
"I can't say anything about it, the only thing is I work with the players I have".
"[I found out about it] the day he came to my office to tell me, which was the day it was made public", he added.
