Christian Hackenberg report card: How'd Jets' QB look vs. Titans?
13 August 2017, 06:08 | Henrietta Morgan
Mariota suits against Jets up for the first time since season ending injury
The Titans could be a team that will surprise after making many solid acquisitions through free agency and the National Football League draft in recent years.
Saturday's matchup will be 15th preseason clash between the Jets and the Titans. No, that's not going to happen in the preseason, but this game wasn't about that. The results don't matter and winning is not the priority. Right now, the Jets are putting their temporary trust in Josh McCown at least until one of the younger QBs emerge. Defensive end Leonard Williams got a sack as the Jets first-team defense allowed only one first down in two drives. He completed 17-of-24 passes for 119 yards and looked confident and comfortable as he played the majority of the game. All in all, considering the lack of talent on the field with Hackenberg, it was an inconclusive game.
TITANS: Quarterback Marcus Mariota took his game to another level in his second year as a pro in 2016, throwing for 26 touchdowns against nine interceptions and notching a 95.6 QB rating.
New offensive coordinator John Morton didn't ask Hackenberg to do too much, a smart way to break him in. The field goal Catanzaro missed tonight, in his first game in a Jets' uniform, was 55 yards, yet his kicking power wasn't to blame.
But there were also mistakes. The good: Hack started 14-for-18 where the only incompletions were three drops and a pass tipped at the line of scrimmage.
Hackenberg's production wasn't great - no points in eight possessions - but you have to grade on a curve when it comes to the former second-round pick. The Jets are 6-8 in the preseason against the Titans.

McCown finished 3-of-4 for 72 yards and the touchdown. McCown showed deep-ball accuracy, hitting Robby Anderson on a 53-yard bomb - something we haven't seen in training camp. Punter Lachlan Edwards, the only punter on the roster, struggled.
Corner Darryl Roberts was burned for a 42-yard gain, and Bryce Petty didn't do much as he played the final quarter and change behind Hackenberg and McCown.
Equities fall on rising tension between US & North Korea
It's been a similar story across most Asian markets, with stock falls of at least 1% a common feature of today's session. European stock markets fell further in opening trade on Friday on intensifying fears over North Korea, dealers said.

With Champions League football back at Old Trafford this season it appears that Mourinho is determined to use any possible artillery to achieve his and the club's goals. "I will just go with everything I have to try to win every match we play".
Merkel doesn't speak for US on North Korea
President Donald Trump says he's planning a press conference Monday in Washington though it's unclear what he plans to discuss. Thursday's Late Show kicked off with an old-timey newsreel about North Korea's threat to bomb Guam, wherever that is.
Chelsea 'lost heads', says Conte after shock loss
The game between Swansea and Southampton had no goals, while Wayne Rooney bagged the victor as Everton saw off Stoke City 1-0. It's obvious because the linesman is on the line. "I'm trying, no, I'm doing my best every day".
The 2017 solar eclipse light show
In most places, the eclipse's peak time will be less than 2-and-a-half minutes and viewing will depend greatly on the weather. While there might appear to be a lack of sunlight, looking directly at the sun during an eclipse will damage your eyesight.
