This is the moment a car drove into a crowd of protesters in Charlottesville on Saturday
The mayor of Charlottesville said at least one person was killed after a vehicle plowed into a crowd downtown Saturday afternoon following the clashes broke before the "Unite the Right" rally of white nationalists and other right-wing groups.
US President DonaldTrump, on the other hand, criticised the protest march and asked people to unite as one nation.
VirginiaGov. Terry McAuliffe said he was "disgusted by the hatred, bigotry and violence these protesters have brought to our state over the past 24 hours".
"Virginians mourn the life taken in this morning's events and reject this hateful violence in Charlottesville", said U.S. Sen.
Dickler said the crash, which involved three cars, happened at Water and 4th streets. It's unclear how many people have been injured in the incident, but other videos on the scene show multiple people bleeding and laid out on the ground.
Charlottesville police said in a statement on Facebook that they and Virginia State Police were at the scene of the incident in the city's downtown.
Earlier in the day before the fatality, President Trump had condemned violence that erupted between white nationalists and counter-demonstrators.
"We ALL must be united and condemn all that hate stands for".
VirginiaGov. Terry McAuliffe had declared a state of emergency earlier today, and Charlottesville Mayor Michael Signer blamed President Trump "for inflaming racial prejudices during his presidential campaign previous year", via The Independent. "There is no place for this kind of violence in America".
