According to Deadline, Paramount and Universal had a bidding war over the film rights to a new book by Walter Isaacson called Leonardo da Vinci. The project comes through DiCaprio's Appian Way, which has a first-look deal at Paramount, and the actor and his president of production Jennifer Davisson will be serving as producers.
His 2007 book, Einstein: His Life and Universe, was the basis for the first season of National Geographic Channel's new series, Genius, which starred Geoffrey Rush as Albert Einstein.
The film is special for the actor because he is famously known to have been named afterLeonardo da Vinci.
