Mueller wants to interview Priebus in Russia probe report

Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump's former campaign chair, is quickly becoming a key figure in the Russian Federation investigation.

Trump ousted Priebus last month, replacing him with former Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly as his new chief of staff.

The Times report also says Priebus and Comey met in the White House in early February, a week before Comey said that Trump requested that he halt his investigation of Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser.

U.S. stocks close lower, snapping Dow's 10-day winning streak
Treasury yields fell in Asian time and the 10-year benchmark yield is down 2.7 basis points at 2.26 percent. CURRENCIES: The dollar slipped to 109.05 yen from 109.20 while the euro weakened to $1.1763 from $1.1773.

A spokesman for Paul Manafort said, "Mr. Manafort has consistently cooperated with law enforcement and other serious inquiries and did so on this occasion as well". In Mr. Comey's meeting with Mr. Priebus, Mr. Comey told Mr. Priebus about a Justice Department policy that largely bars discussions between White House officials and the F.B.I. about continuing investigations in order to prevent political meddling - or at least the appearance of it - in the bureau's work, according to the law enforcement official.

PPP conducted the poll for VoteVets that revealed that firing Mueller would start the beginning of the end for Trump, "On other big matters of the day, voters say that Congress would be right to consider impeachment if Trump fired investigator Robert Mueller and pardoned conspirators by a 56-34 margin, with even 27% of Republicans agreeing". It is not clear whether Mr. Priebus ever delivered that message to Trump, the newspaper reported. He has also frequently said he hoped the investigation would be completed quickly.

He has asked the White House to provide him with some information about any specific meetings with Russian officials, people who attended them and whether there are any notes, transcripts or documents available about them, two of the people said. The president waved at him to close the door, saying he would be done shortly.

Russian stocks undermined by tensions between USA and N.Korea
Amid the hot rhetoric, USA stocks sold off sharply on Thursday, with the S&P 500 falling more than 1 percent. The 30-year bond last rose 28/32 in price to yield 2.7759 percent, from 2.818 percent late on Wednesday.

Trump has denied asking Comey to drop the investigation of Flynn. "They [the FBI] do that very seldom, so I was surprised to see it".

John Dowd, Trump's attorney, underscored Trump's support for Mueller in a comment August 8.

Manafort's new firm, Miller and Chevalier, specializes in financial crimes. "In addition, given the obvious unlawful deficiencies, this extraordinary invasive tool was employed for its shock value to try to intimidate Mr. Manafort and bring him to his needs".
