Hamas says it accepts Abbas's reconciliation demands

Hamas paves way for Palestinian elections as it signals readiness to end Fatah feud

Palestinian Islamist Hamas group said on Sunday it has dissolved its administration that runs Gaza and agrees to hold general elections in order to end a long-running feud with President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Palestinian Authority, controlled by Fatah, fought a war with Hamas over Gaza in 2007, which led to Hamas taking over.

In its Sunday statement, Hamas invited Abbas' government to return to Gaza and said it was ready to enter talks with Fatah and hold new elections.

It went on saying that it decided to make the announcement in response to the Egyptian efforts for achieving reconciliation and ending the internal Palestinian division. Since then, all attempts to reconcile the two groups and form a Palestinian power-sharing government have stalled.

Sharing his mind on the move of Censor Board, Omung Kumar, the director of the film said "I knew this was going to happen". If you have a knack for Sufi music, then this song from Bhoomi titled "Kho Diya" will be a treat for you.

This decision was reportedly a response to the Egyptian efforts.

"There will be no meetings or dialogues" until Hamas announces the dissolution of its governing body in the Gaza Strip and enables the Palestinian Authority government to assume responsibility in its place, Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad told official PA radio.

Hamas, however, has been greatly weakened by an Israeli and Egyptian blockade, three wars with Israel and worldwide isolation.

Hoping to pressure Hamas to relinquish control of Gaza, Abbas has cut payments to Israel for the electricity it supplies to Gaza.

FOX Is Developing 'True Lies' TV Reboot
No falsehoods here: True Lies is getting a television reboot under the watchful eye of original film director James Cameron. Being one of Schwarzenegger's great action extravaganzas, the movie was a huge success at the box office.

In May 2011, Abbas and former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal signed in Cairo a reconciliation agreement, which included the formation of a unity government that prepares for general elections within six months. Hamas and Fatah agreed in 2014 to form a national reconciliation government, but despite that agreement, Hamas's shadow government has continued to rule the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza Strip, a coastal enclave of some two million people, has faced deteriorating humanitarian conditions, with a severe electricity crisis and a lack of clean water, among other issues.

Israel's increasing restrictions on exit permits for Gaza residents, an escalating sewage crisis that is contaminating the strip's beaches, and high levels of unemployment, are all contributing to a mounting sense of exhaustion in the strip.

United Nations officials have urged Israel to lift its decade-long blockade of Gaza.
