YouTube is testing a new autoplay feature for homepage videos
11 October 2017, 03:21 | Edward Lowe
Google testing autoplay videos on YouTube
The new feature should not be confused with the existing autoplay feature which plays the next video when the current one ends.
The autoplay feature on YouTube is known as "Play as you browse".
The new functionality was spotted by Android Central, which says that videos on the home page play all the way through if you let them. Time and again, we have spent hours browsing and fishing out creative videos that would blow us away and one such video that we've come across today is this girl whose hair design would not only amaze you, but we bet you'd want to give this a try as well.
To do this, you need to navigate to Account, Settings, General and Play As You Browse. The video which is in front of you will play automatically, if you scroll down, that video will stop playing and another video will start playing which is on the screen now. Thankfully, Facebook allows its app users to turn off the autoplay feature, or limiting the feature to work only when connected to WiFi.
However, this is an optional feature.
Just like on Facebook, users of the YouTube app will be able to turn the feature off in the settings, with the option to limit the feature to only when connected to WiFi as well.
The feature is now available for a small number of users.
Are you getting the autoplay feature on your YouTube app? Also, not everyone has access to the feature yet - in fact, none of the devices we tested had it enabled yet (which is pretty par for the course when it comes to Google's feature testing).
