The Tamil Nadu government has chose to reduce the local entertainment tax by two per cent to eight per cent after talks with the movie industry, a Tamil Film Producers Council official said on Friday.
During last week of September, a local body entertainment tax of 10 per cent was announced by the municipal authorities which was stoutly opposed by film industry bodies.
Riot Games founders are 'back in the trenches'
Besides League of Legends , Riot Games has only developed and published a tabletop spin-off product called Mechs vs. Eleven years after founding Riot Games , its two founding members are making the jump back to game development.
The filmmakers demanded the local body tax be completely abolished.
"The Government says it is committed to prohibition in the State and the same government promotes it by increasing its prices", he said. Tamil Nadu Cinema Theatre Owners Federation president Abirami Ramanathan was also present at the meeting. "We have requested the government to consider reducing the tax on films of other languages". The new ticket price is expected to come into effect from Diwali.
The Tamil Nadu government chose to increase liquor prices at a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, in a move that authorities say will add Rs 5,320 crore to the state's coffers. I don't think people would mind paying Rs 8 in addition to a Rs 100 ticket. This will clear the path for Mersal to finally be released on Diwali.
