Star Wars: Battlefront II Team Is Paying Close Attention To Fan Feedback
It's nice to see feedback from a beta so quickly addressed with a statement.
Battlefront II's monetization scheme has been heavily criticized for being "pay to win", but the writing was on the wall way before DICE and EA officially confirmed mTX was in.
"We know you have a lot of questions about Crates and progression, so we want to clarify a few things, as the complete system was not in the Beta and will continue to be tuned over time", DICE said in a blog post.
"As a balance goal, we're working towards having the most powerful items in the game only earnable via in-game achievements", it explained.
The progression outlined here is a little better than what was expected in the beta, but it's not flawless.
Star Cards impact gameplay and are players' major concern.

Some upgrades will only unlock once players reach a certain rank. Earlier today a new listing appeared on Amazon website, titled as "Star Wars: Battlefront II Crystals" - it is the name of the in-game currency that Battlefront II players are going to use to buy Crates. You'll also get instant access to a special The Last Jedi-themed Millennium Falcon, as well as an epic Lightsaber Mastery Star Card for Yoda.
Each loot crate has been detailed to contain more than just cosmetic items - the crates will contain Star Cars, Weapons and "other" valuable resources.
The standard edition of Battlefront 2 releases on November 17 and includes all of the core game features, including a cinematic campaign and a full suite of online and offline multiplayer modes.
The developer also mentions that voices asking for ways to play the game with the same set of star cards with flattened values have been "heard" even if no implementation was promised. We will work to make sure the system is balanced both for players who want to earn everything, as well as for players who are short on time and would like to move faster in their progress towards various rewards.
