President Donald Trump
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has lashed at President Trump's executive order to slash subsidies to Americans for Affordable Care Act insurance purchase and the state's Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman plans to sue the administration. Joe Vitale, who chairs the Senate health committee, says that since the cost-sharing subsidies from the government to insurers benefit poorer enrollees their elimination will hurt low-income populations. In a statement, the White House said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, based on guidance from the U.S. Department of Justice, has concluded that the so-called cost-sharing reduction payments. "We are now evaluating what this announcement may mean for individual consumer plans in the future". Critics of Trump's executive order warn the cheaper-plans-with-less-coverage option will inevitably drive up insurance costs for Americans with serious medical conditions, and cause more insurers to abandon the ACA marketplaces.
Jetter says, "From what I understand Trump ending the subsidies really is a power play to force Congress to create a bipartisan fix to heathcare.gov or to the Affordable Care Act.it is kind of scary".
"Our coalition of states stands ready to sue if President Trump cuts them off".
"Having failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act in Congress, President Trump is determined to singlehandedly rip apart our health care system".
Trump says he met 'President' of US Virgin Islands
Trump might have been referring to the governor of the Virgin Islands, Kenneth Mapp , with whom he met earlier this month. Trump thinks he is meeting with the leader of a foreign country when he talks to a governor of a United States territory.
Trump's executive orders are expected to increase insurance premiums and potentially cost the government an extra $2.3 billion next year, according to NPR.
Chris Wallace, president of the Texas Association of Business, said his group was still studying the president's order. His only goal has been to destroy the Affordable Care Act. Instead of working on bipartisan solutions to improve our health care system, President Trump is jeopardizing health care for millions of Americans, leaving everyone paying more for less care.
