Tesla Recalls 11000 Model X SUVs Over Possible Seat Issue

Tesla believes only 3 percent of the cars involved in the recall - about 300 vehicles - are actually experiencing the issue, but they will have to recall all the vehicles made in the time period to make sure.
Owners of affected vehicles are being alerted beginning Thursday and they'll have the option of either taking their vehicles to a Tesla service center or scheduling a fix with the company's mobile repair units. It should be noted that Tesla has not received any reports of this happening in customer cars - it discovered the problem during internal testing. Investors' main concern with Tesla's overall plan is how quickly the company is ramping up production, without all the layers of testing that conventional automakers go through on vehicles.

Note that this issue only affects Model X with fold-flat second row seats built between October 28, 2016 and August 16, 2017 and does not affect any vehicles with monopost seats. In the past two months, we have conducted roughly 40% of the Takata airbag recall repairs via mobile service, and customer satisfaction results for our mobile service offering are consistently above 97%.
"Until then, there is no issue with continuing to drive your Model X", Tesla wrote in the email. Although Tesla has not received reports of any issues or accidents relating to this condition, we will be inspecting the affected customers' cars so that we can confirm whether any adjustment is needed. Improperly adjusted cables could cause the seat back on the driver-side second-row seat to move forward during a crash, which increases the chance of injury.
Tesla will be emailing customers with affected models today, and will be arranging service appointments.
