Two dead in Damascus police headquarters attack

Two suicide bombers have conducted an attack near police headquarters on the Khalid ibn al-Walid street in the Syrian capital of Damascus, according to the Syrian Interior Ministry.

Three suicide bombers attacked a police centre in Damascus on Wednesday.

"Two of the bombers tried to force their way into a police station located on Khaled Bin al-Waleed Street", SANA quoted an unnamed Interior Ministry source as saying.

A third bomber was encircled by the guards behind the department building, but also detonated his explosive belt, the ministry added.

The bombing Wednesday marks the second time this month that suicide bombers have targeted police in the Syrian capital.

That attack was claimed by the Islamic State group, which said three of its fighters armed with guns, grenades, and explosives had targeted the station.
