Deputies have charged a woman and her teenage son with murdering a SC man whose body was found dismembered under his home.

"Officers talked to Gary James Stone and he indicated that he and his stepson (Charles Jacob Bridges) had been in an argument and that he (Stone) had walked away from the residence and everything was alright", Mueller said.

But deputies arrived at the scene and spoke with Stone, who said he and his step-son had gotten into an argument.

'His body was discovered dismembered in several containers under the residence'.

The remains of Gary James Stone, 51, of Gaffney, were found Thursday afternoon on Harris Trail, Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said.

According to Sheriff Steve Mueller of Cherokee County, Wilkins and her 18-year-old son Charles Bridges are each charged with murder.

Mueller said Bridges admitted to his involvement in the crime but Wilkins did not.

A family member told WSPA they had not heard from Stone since November 2. She said they didn't initially suspect foul play, but became concerned and notified authorities after receiving a call from one of Stone's neighbors, who had noticed blood on Stone's door.

Sheriff Mueller says Stone was choked, stabbed and dismembered by Bridges and his mother was a willing participant in the murder.

Deputies returned Wednesday and then got a tip Thursday that someone had been killed at the property.

Mueller said on Thursday, authorities got a tip that a caller believed a murder had taken place at the home and gave authorities specific details.

The body was found during a search of the land around the home.

Wilkins and Bridges are now in the Cherokee County jail and are being held without bond.
