Bisping odds underdog in Gastelum fight
14 November 2017, 07:58 | Henrietta Morgan
The former UFC champion and pioneer British MMA fighter was stripped of his title by Georges St-Pierre ten days ago, but has already lined up his next fight.
There is no quit in Bisping. The Brit stepped up and replaced Silva with only a few weeks between his November 4th title loss to GSP and the showdown with Kelvin. But it won't be the last we'll see of the 38-year-old as Bisping has a different date in mind for his retirement bout.
Bisping spoke with Ariel Helwani on a recent episode of the MMA Hour, and during the interview, he stated that he feels 100% fine physically after his recent fight.
'I have nothing against China, they are a lovely race of people. "This is the ideal opportunity because I want to fight again, but I don't have to go through all the stress of a training camp and the dieting and everything cause that's all done".
"There's a fight card on in London". "I would love to be on that". I would love to be a part of that to say thank you to the British people who supported me and have my last fight there.
'A World Cup without Italy is like pizza without cheese'
Ventura had made changes from Friday's defeat with Brazil-born Jorginho making his Italy debut and Alessandro Florenzi and Manolo Gabbiadini also handed starts, although Napoli's in-form winger Lorenzo Insigne was again left on the bench.
"I didn't fight to the full of my potential last week. I've always wanted my last fight to be in England", he said. "Contrary to popular belief, with GSP saying I'm an angry man, I'm a very happy man. That's kind of bothering me", Bisping said. It's time to move on and do something else with my life. I definitely want my last fight to be in England.
As it turns out, that is still very much Bisping's plan, but he couldn't resist earning an extra paycheck off the same training camp he just had to get ready for St-Pierre and a fight against Gastelum just sounded like a lot of fun.
"So this gives me a chance to exorcise my demons and get some decent mental space back", he continued.
Sumo champ Harumafuji investigated over 'bottle assault'
They were drinking with a group of compatriots when Harumafuji was said to have become "angered by the attitude" of Takanoiwa. For years, non-Japanese wrestlers were prohibited from obtaining the rank of yokozuna, the highest title in sumo, until 1993.
This plan to fight Gastelum throws off Bisping's original agenda. "That wasn't the plan, but circumstances have put me in this situation".
