The good old mHawk engine running the higher variants of the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift has also been tweaked to churn out 140 bhp max power, instead of 120 bhp, and 320 Nm, which is a first for one of the most popular SUV line-ups in India. New Mahindra Scorpio comes with awesome features which include a 6-speed gearbox. The high power engine is also available as an option in with the mid S7 variant which is also available in 120PS, 280Nm version along with the S3 and the S5 trims. The facelift offers a maximum power of 140 BHP along with a peak torque of 330 Nm. The 2017 MahindraScorpio facelift gets some cosmetic changes too that makes the already beefed up SUV more imposing. This engine is mated to a new six-speed manual transmission. It also gets chrome highlights in the headlamps, while there is a new upper and lower grille mesh design. The safety features of the SUV include new 9.1 Bosch ABS system, dual front airbags, collapsible steering column and panic brake indication among the others. Mahindra now also offers faux skid plate for both front and rear bumper. The new model of Scorpio facelift comes with five options in color, which includes, Molten Red, D Sat Silver, Pearl White (Only on S11), Diamond White (Except S11), and Napoli Black. As for the side profile, it boasts of redesigned ORVMs with integrated side turn indicators, while riding on new alloy wheels. The rear end also comes with some considerable changes and the biggest change is the revised tailgate that now traded the stylish black element for a chrome slat at the centre. In addition, there is a roof mounted sunglass holder and mobile holder spot.
Coming to the interior, the cabin gets an upholstery change. Having said that, in terms of dimensions, the Scorpio remains unchanged, so we think the third will come short on knee room for an average sized adult and will be more suitable for children.
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift come with better technological features now like reverse parking camera with dynamic assist, one-touch lane change indicator, projector headlamps with static bending technology and LED eyebrows, 6-inch touch screen infotainment system with GPS navigation in 10 languages, voice assist system and more. Currently, its biggest rival is the Tata Safari Storme but it also competes with 5-seater SUVs like the Renault Duster, the newly launched Captur and the Hyundai Creta.
