Low cost carrier Flydubai has announced a commitment to order 225 Boeing 737 Max aircraft worth $27bn at the Dubai Airshow.

The deal steals some of the thunder of Boeing's rival Airbus, which just announced the largest order by volume in its history at the Dubai Airshow. When finalized, the purchase promises to sustain tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs in Boeing's US factories and network of suppliers, according to Boeing. The 737 MAX family a favorite of low cost carriers has a operating cost that is about 8 per cent less than its main competitor, Boeing said.
