This year's YouTube Rewind video is quite the ride

Google is going on a hiring spree to try to stamp out offensive videos and comments on YouTube. It's also introducing tougher restrictions on advertising and making greater use of smart technology. From ballads to covers and original compositions, in 2017 the people of Ireland searched most for videos that had a distinctly green tint to them.

YouTube is owned by Google, and is reporting advertisers have been slowly pulling out throughout 2017.

"According to YouTube's blog post, the Polish government's video must have been judged a "borderline" case, which describes content which "[contains] inflammatory religious or supremacist content without a direct call to violence or a primary goal of inciting hatred". Obviously, fidget spinners make a few appearances throughout, and at some point, the video deviates from its humorous nature to also remind us of the tragedies that occurred this year, such as the many hurricane devastations and the Vegas shooting, communicating a message of uniting together under tumultuous circumstances. We gathered to watch as April the Giraffe gave birth to her baby, Tajiri, live in front of an audience of 1.2 million, setting a new record for the most popular livestream on YouTube.
