"If even a small percentage of that is true I would think the International Olympic Committee did the right thing", she said.
Lindsey Vonn sat down with CNN to talk about the upcoming Winter Olympics which the United States may or may not end up sending athletes to for safety reasons. "I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremonies".
She continued, "I want to represent our country well".
Vonn has competed in three Olympics, in 2002, 2006 and 2010, respectively - and in the last event, she won a gold medal in the downhill, becoming the first American woman to do so.
The 33-year-old Vonn is getting ready for the final act of a long and illustrious career. "And I don't think that there are a lot of people now in our government that do that", she said.
Vonn is not a fan of Donald Trump's politics. Before that even becomes a possibility, however, Vonn is already turning a political light on the Olympics by saying she would "absolutely not" accept an invitation to the White House if one is extended by President Donald Trump. Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry said he didn't want to visit the White House in celebration of his team's National Basketball Association title, sparking a back-and-forth between Trump and the Warriors.
Lindsey Vonn will be elsewhere if the U.S. Olympic team visits the White House. Injuries forced her to miss the 2014 Sochi Games.
Last year, she broke her arm and sustained nerve damage during a preseason training crash in the U.S., delaying the start of her season until January.
