The Human Rights Council voted 33-3 with nine abstentions on a resolution aiming to re-center the world's attention on the crisis that has left an untold number of people killed and injured and driven an estimated 626,000 Rohingya to flee into neighboring Bangladesh since August.

He told a special session of the Human Rights Council on the Rohingya on Tuesday: "My government is doing everything possible to deter these extremist acts".

Religious adviser to the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Abdullah Md Zin, who is also Institut Wasatiyyah Malaysia chairman, said the display was aimed at stating the stand of Malaysia and its people that the ethnic Rohingya were not alone in their struggles for own rights.

The ambassador stated that OIC remained ready to work with all stakeholders to prevent human rights violations on Rohingya Muslims.

"There will be no camps", he told the emergency session.

Myanmar's government has denied allegations of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity, but it has refused United Nations investigators' and journalists' access to the affected areas in northern Rakhine state.

Up until this point, United Nations officials have described the crisis as "ethnic cleansing" but the term genocide would increase pressure on officials in Myanmar.

"But the concerns are extremely serious, and clearly call for access to be immediately granted for further verification".

Zeid urged the 47-member council to recommend to the UN General Assembly to authorise a new mechanism to probe individual criminal responsibility.

The UN first defined it in the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in 1948.

During their visits, Emine and Mevlüt listened to the tale of woes from the displaced Rohingya, who described the horrific details of the recent army crackdown in Northern Rakhine state.

Bangladesh also denies they are its citizens. Bangladesh now hosts about one million Rohingya.
