Florida State University officially introduced Willie Taggart as its new head football coach on Wednesday.

Taggart, who led the Ducks to a 7-5 record this season, signed a six-year, $30 million deal with Florida State.

Taggart, who was 7-5 at OR, was officially coach of the Ducks for 363 days.

Taggart grew up in Palmetto, Florida, and was a four-year starting quarterback at WKU.

He succeeds Jimbo Fisher who left for Texas A&M after 11 seasons with FSU, including eight as head coach.

Taggart, and Odell Haggins - Fisher's replacement on an interim basis - are the first black head football coaches at Florida State.

Away from the field, the 41-year-old Taggart has earned a reputation as one of the nation's top recruiters, which ought to come in handy with the first ever early signing day looming December 20.

"Really, really great people Eugene, and a really, really hard decision for me because the people were so great", he said.

Liverpool to report Spartak Moscow over alleged racial abuse of Rhian Brewster
It's something that the club will look into and deal with", he told the Liverpool Echo . The only thing that was missing from his performance was a goal.

"Things were going really well there in every aspect", Taggart told reporters. You always tell me to chase my dreams and don't let anyone get in the way of it. "If you're going to chase your dream, I'm going to ride with you, '" Taggart said. The next day he tweeted - before deleting it - more: "Lost all words I could've been down the street from my house but came here off the strength of what you said".

The Ducks play Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 16. This was the first time Florida State had to conduct a coaching search since 1975. He took over in 2010 following Bowden's retirement.

Taggart said it was tough to leave OR, but he's appreciative that he's getting the chance "to fulfill a dream".

OR started this past season 4-1 and even briefly popped into the AP rankings, but starting quarterback Justin Herbert broke his collarbone and the Ducks floundered, going 1-4 without him. Taggart held that post for three seasons and helped Cardinal standout Toby Gerhart to unanimous All-America honors and a runner-up finish in the 2009 Heisman Trophy vote.
