My Sisters' Place will host a gathering Wednesday to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre.

The Montreal Massacre was the deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history.

In 1989, 14 women were shot to death at the Ecole Polytechnique by Marc Lépine, who then turned the gun on himself.

One by one their names were read aloud and a candle was lit in their honour.

This was the third year Taniya Nagpal, a representative of the Society of Graduate Students at Western University attended the ritual.

"It is really hard to understand we live, supposedly, in one of the best times in history", he said.
