Facebook unveils livestreaming and more for Messenger games
Published by LINE the game will launch in 2018, bringing the most beloved Disney characters to Messenger where players can collect, connect and pop Tsum Tsum based on the popular Disney Tsum Tsum plushies.
Livestreaming, new games and other new features are coming to Facebook Messenger soon, Facebook announced today. This progress is exciting, but even more than that, we've been thrilled at the response over the a year ago from both the people playing and the developers building. Even without the new games Australia has been playing the Instant Games through the app in some record amounts over the past year.
"I absolutely believe that the streaming community, the influencer community, will have the opportunity to see this as something they want to pick up on", Facebook's global director of games partnerships, Leo Olebe, told Venturebeat. But fundamentally, sharing the games you love with the people [who] you care about is, first and foremost.
Livestreaming, the company said, is set to roll out later today. It's easy to get started: while playing a game, tap the camera icon located in the upper right corner of the game. Once this is selected you can choose the audience you wish to broadcast to and add a short description to say something about your video. To start the video users can press the "Start Live Video" button.
In addition, Facebook is also launching new games for Messenger next year, including Angry Birds.
When Instant Games first launched it offered 20 games across 30 markets, including titles like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Words With Friends Frenzy.
We're so glad that people are embracing the fantastic experiences game developers are building for Instant Games.
There will also be the ability to video chat with your partner while you play a game with them, set to be introduced on Words With Friends early next year. An exact release date for Angry Birds on Messenger is unclear but we know it'll be at some point in early 2018. CoolGames also developed an Instant Games version of Tetris that launched at the end of November. To the people who continue to enjoy, share, compete and challenge themselves and their friends to games on Messenger, thanks for playing and game on.
