As this is being written, the bout hasn't been announced yet, but it looks like Robert Whittaker and Luke Rockhold will be fighting at UFC 221, February 10th.

"My fight at UFC 217 was one of the greatest nights of my life but I now need to take some time to focus on my health.", St-Pierre said in a statement. MMA journalist Damon Martin later confirmed that GSP would relinquish the belt he won from Michael Bisping at UFC 217.

Earlier tonight (Dec. 7, 2017), the UFC confirmed that Georges St. Pierre had officially vacated the middleweight title he won just over a month ago via third-round submission over Michael Bisping at UFC 217 on November 4 in New York City.

Since then, however, the Canadian superstar has been diagnosed with colitis and he has chose to vacate his title.

Georges St-Pierre's reign at middleweight is over before it ever really started. Whittaker was entirely expected to take on the then champion, Bisping after winning the title but the injury was too severe to jump back in at the time the UFC wanted and they chose not to wait for the newly crowned Interim champion.

He was supposed to defend his title against Robert Whittaker, but he said in an interview with TSN that he likely wouldn't.

But, the bad news is the one you get will likely be shorter, more expensive and it may be harder to find than in Christmases past. According to him, the Mexican government has "made the industry in the US jump through a few hoops" to export there.

"Of course in terms of weight, if I want to go back to compete at 185, obviously eating like I did what I did, I learned from my mistakes".

Given the nature of St-Pierre's health, it's unclear if he will wind up returning at 170 pounds - a weight that may prove more suitable for a fighter with an intestinal disease. He rebounded to beat David Branch in September after losing his title to Bisping in July 2016.
