Daniel Radcliffe Weighs In On Johnny Depp's Controversial 'Fantastic Beasts' Casting

Fantastic Beasts: Daniel Radcliffe “Can See Why People Are Frustrated” About Johnny Depp

Throughout the casting controversy surrounding Warner Bros.' decision to keep Johnny Depp in Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Daniel Radcliffe had remained silent.

The Harry Potter actor waded into the subject with a measured response to Entertainment Weekly.

As much appreciation as Radcliffe has for the producers, he also offered a poignant perspective as he drew a comparison of Depp's continued casting to the hypocrisy of the NFL's domestic violence problem as well as his former Harry Potter co-star Jamie Waylett, who was written out of the final Harry Potter films after he was arrested for growing weed in 2009.

Dark Souls Remastered Announcement Trailer | Switch, PS4, X1, PC
It seems that it only took one generation for that decision to be made, as Dark Souls Remastered has been officially announced. You can expect to die no matter where you are when the game hits the Switch on May 15th this year.

"Honestly, there's an issue at the moment where there's a lot of people being accused of things, they're being accused by multiple victims, and it's compelling and frightening", Yates previously told EW. While the actor said that he wants to be supportive of the film's producers who "gave me a great start in life and an unbelievable job", that didn't stop him from sharing his thoughts on the matter.

"I suppose the thing I was struck by was, we did have a guy who was reprimanded for weed on the [original Potter] film, essentially, so obviously what Johnny has been accused of is much greater than that", he continued. J.K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter novels and has written both of the Fantastic Beasts movies, recently addressed Johnny Depp's casting, saying that she's not only comfortable with the casting, but that they're happy to have him on board.

Warner Bros has very deliberately pushed forward with a movie that stars Depp as the titular character, in a thirst for the added revenue that Depp will apparently bring in, and they're willing to overlook all of his misdeeds in order to make a quick buck.

Trump's denial came among a series of other tweets in which he defended his immigration stance. We should have more people from places like Norway ", he is reported to have said.

When Johnny Depp was cast as Grindelwald, I thought he'd be wonderful in the role. "There will be no further public statements about this matter". I understand why some have been confused and angry about why that didn't happen.

Despite the controversy, Johnny Depp is still slated to appear in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald when it hits theaters on November 16.
