Wesley Mathews indicted for capital murder

The father of a 3-year-old girl adopted from an Indian orphanage was indicted on a capital murder charge Friday, almost three months after the girl's body was found in a culvert near their suburban Dallas home.
The murder indictment obtained by Law&Crime shows that the grand jury was sketchy on some of the details. He is accused of killing Sherin Mathews in October 2017. Also, while they believed that her father used a deadly weapon in the incident, the grand jury didn't know what that weapon was supposed to be. The autopsy called it homicidal violence, but wasn't more specific.
The child's body was found in a culvert beneath a road. Wesley initially told Richardson police he put Sherin outside in an alley because she wouldn't drink her milk.
CNN reached out to attorneys for the couple for comment, but received no reply. Court documents indicate Sini and her husband left Sherin home alone while they went to dinner with their biological daughter the night she disappeared.
"That is absurd right there and then to come back after the body is found and walk into the police department with your lawyer and sit down for a voluntary interview and give a completely different story". He told a detective that he had been trying to get Sherin to drink her milk in the garage, and she wouldn't listen to him, the affidavit states.
An autopsy released earlier this month revealed that 3-year-old Sherin Mathewsdied of "homicidal violence" after she disappeared from her adopted family's Richardson home on October 7, 2017. "The 3-year-old began to choke". But after her body was found, he told police she choked to death and that he removed her body from the family's home in Richardson, about 15 miles (24 kilometers) north of Dallas. He remained behind bars at the Dallas County Jail on bond of $1 million.
Well, investigators won't say if she's cooperating, but she could also do time, possibly 20 years. "Eventually Wesley Mathews no longer felt a pulse on the child and believed she had died".
