Wikileaks founder Julian Assange 'poor hygiene' bothering Ecuador embassy staff

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has refused to leave the Ecuadoran embassy in London claiming he fears being extradited to the United States

On Thursday, Ecuador announced it had naturalised the Australian as part of its bid to free the WikiLeaks founder from its London embassy, where he's been holed up for more than five years.

"It seems he doesn't wash properly", a highly placed source told the news outlet.

Assange reportedly complained of noise from a loading bay near his hideout, which resulted in a female restroom being converted into a bedroom for him.

Espinosa said that there were "well-founded fears" about the potential for Assange to be killed if he left the embassy and could therefore not ethically deny him asylum.

Jérémie Zimmermann, a friend and former colleague, wrote in 2012 that "unless the people around him force him to shower, he might not change his clothes for days".

And another pal, Daniel Domscheit Berg, said: "Julian eats everything with his hands and he always wipes his fingers on his trousers".

The actor is now shooting for Kedarnath which marks the Bollywood debut of Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh.

"I have never seen any trousers as greasy as his in my whole life".

The decision was made mere hours after a request for Assange to be given diplomatic status was refused by the British government.

It came after the United Kingdom rejected a request that Assange be given diplomatic immunity so he could freely leave the embassy. He added that Assange will not leave Ecuador's embassy while there are no security guarantees.

The State Department announced the interview with De Telegraaf on Thursday after it, too, faced questions about Hoekstra's comments.

Although Swedish prosecutors have since dropped the charges, British police remain outside the embassy ready to arrest the WikiLeaks co-founder for breaking his 2012 bail conditions. She however did not provide an explanation of how Assange's new citizenship would help him escape the embassy. Assange fears that his involvement with WikiLeaks, the biggest leak of classified USA military documents in history, would have him facing imprisonment or even death at the hands of the United States.
