Carlos Sainz leads the Dakar as Peterhansel hits trouble in Bolivia

Toyota's driver Giniel De Villiers of South Africa and his co-driver Dirk Von Zitzewitz of Germany compete during Stage 7 of the 2018 Dakar Rally between La Paz and Uyuni Bolivia

After a rest day on Friday, Peterhansel left La Paz in a hurry, and was fastest until 129 kilometers into the speedy 425-kilometer dirt route to Uyuni, when he crashed.

Santosh also had a good day, finishing Saturday's stage at 39th position and an overall ranking of 40 at the end of stage 7 with a timing of 28 hours, nine minutes and 41 seconds.

In the motorcycle category, Spain's Honda rider Joan Barreda won Saturday's stage in 5:11:10 with Dutchman Adrien Van Beveren second on his Yamaha, nearly three minutes behind.

The opinions I expressed were deliberately exaggerated in order to make a point and have, to an extent, been taken out of context. THE glamour model girlfriend of Ukip's chief was last night accused of sending a series of racist tweets about Meghan Markle.

Van Beveren leads the overall standings with a timing of 21 hours, 49 minutes and 18 seconds.

Delivering his best performance of the race thus far, Giniel de Villiers grabbed second place on the seventh stage of the Dakar Rally on Saturday.

Stephane Peterhansel's hopes of a 14th Dakar title suffered a potentially fatal blow on Saturday when his race-leading Peugeot was hit by a suspension failure which left him stranded for an hour and 45 minutes. Nasser Al-Attiyah with his wide cross country rallying experience will want to push as hard as possible to cut down as much lead as possible before the 4x4 stages where the Qatari driver holds an edge over the competiton. Peterhansel, the defending champion, began the seventh stage in southern Bolivia with a 27-minute lead on second-placed Sainz.

The Indiana Pacers can't stop making comebacks
IN outscored Cleveland 32-16 in the third quarter to erase a 14-point halftime deficit and take a 76-74 lead after three quarters. The Pacers overcame a 22-point deficit in their 97-95 victory over Cleveland, handing the Cavaliers their third straight loss.

With van Beveren taking second place on the gruelling seventh stage he has reclaimed the overall classification lead from Barreda Bort's team-mate Kevin Benavides and now holds a slender 3m14s advantage of the Argentine, with the stage victor up to third despite his injury.

The rally has already reached Uyuni from La Paz in this stage and will head towards Tupiza, deeper into Bolivia.

Sunday's special stage is the longest of the rally, a 498km timed section from Uyuni to Tupiza that includes high-altitude sand dunes at 3,500 metres.
