Bomb placed in car wounds Palestinian in southern Lebanon

Mohammed Hamdan, brother of Osama Hamdan, the head of the Hamas' global relations and member of the politburo, was wounded in a auto bomb blast in the southern city of Sidon, Lebanon, on Sunday. It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion, or if the owner of the vehicle was inside.

Sidon is home to Lebanon's largest Palestinian refugee camp.

Hamdan was hit in "the explosion of a bomb placed under a BMW brand auto", a military source told AFP.

Sidon Mayor Mohammed Saudi said Hamdan was undergoing surgery in a local hospital. Pictures from the scene show a BMW ripped from explosion, with fire and black smoke rising into the sky.
