Budget session of Parliament: Stalemate on Day 6, protests continue

The Bill was introduced in the backdrop protests over the almost Rs 12,700 crore fraud at Punjab National Bank in which businessman Nirav Modi is allegedly involved. The proposed Bill, introduced in the wake of Nirav Modi-PNB bank fraud, is meant for defaulters who have an outstanding of Rs 100 crore or more and have escaped from the country.

The Question Hour became a casualty once again as members from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) stormed the Well raising slogans.

Bhartruhari Mahtab of the BJD opposed the introduction of the Bill for violating the fundamental rights of citizens, being based on the premise of "innocent until proven guilty".
