While none of the employers expect any reduction in payrolls, 16% anticipate an increase in workforce across sectors, the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook survey - findings of which were shared exclusively with TOI, says.
"The second quarter of 2018 is expected to see steady gains for Canadian job seekers", said Yvonne Tennenbaum, regional director for ManpowerGroup Canada.
 The Net Employment Outlook is calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers anticipating a decrease in hiring activity from the percentage of employers anticipating an increase in employment. Elsewhere, a steady increase in staffing levels is expected by restaurants and hotels sector employers, with an outlook of +12%, and by employers in two sectors with Outlooks of +11% - the manufacturing sector and the transport, storage and communication sector. None of the 4,612 employers surveyed across sectors by US-based workforce solutions company ManpowerGroup said they planned to downsize in April-June 2018.

Employers surveyed in each of the nation's 100 largest metropolitan statistic areas expect to hire next quarter, reflecting the growing economy. While there won't be layoffs, hiring as such will be lower than in previous quarters.
Employers expect to increase staffing levels in all seven industry sectors during the upcoming quarter.
The Manpower Group Press release states that " Of Over 59,000 employers surveyed across 44 countries and territories, confidence levels have strengthened year-on-year in 25 countries, weakened in 13, and remained the same in five".
ManpowerGroup said the net hiring outlook of the engineering/construction sector and the retail/wholesale sector stood at 26 percent, ahead of the transportation/warehousing/communications sector's 21 percent and the leisure/food/hospitality sector's 17 percent.
Their new forecast is the strongest reported since 2011. A considerable decline of 14 percentage points is reported in the North, while Outlooks are 5 and 3 percentage points weaker in the South and the West, respectively.
