Retail job outlook positive survey

While none of the employers expect any reduction in payrolls, 16% anticipate an increase in workforce across sectors, the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook survey - findings of which were shared exclusively with TOI, says.

"The second quarter of 2018 is expected to see steady gains for Canadian job seekers", said Yvonne Tennenbaum, regional director for ManpowerGroup Canada.

[1] The Net Employment Outlook is calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers anticipating a decrease in hiring activity from the percentage of employers anticipating an increase in employment. Elsewhere, a steady increase in staffing levels is expected by restaurants and hotels sector employers, with an outlook of +12%, and by employers in two sectors with Outlooks of +11% - the manufacturing sector and the transport, storage and communication sector. None of the 4,612 employers surveyed across sectors by US-based workforce solutions company ManpowerGroup said they planned to downsize in April-June 2018.

The overall net outlook score of 10 per cent is 1 per cent lower than the last quarter and down 4 per cent from the same period (April-June) of 2017.

Employers surveyed in each of the nation's 100 largest metropolitan statistic areas expect to hire next quarter, reflecting the growing economy. While there won't be layoffs, hiring as such will be lower than in previous quarters.

Employers expect to increase staffing levels in all seven industry sectors during the upcoming quarter.

ManpowerGroup said the net hiring outlook of the engineering/construction sector and the retail/wholesale sector stood at 26 percent, ahead of the transportation/warehousing/communications sector's 21 percent and the leisure/food/hospitality sector's 17 percent.

Their new forecast is the strongest reported since 2011. A considerable decline of 14 percentage points is reported in the North, while Outlooks are 5 and 3 percentage points weaker in the South and the West, respectively.

While dodging balls and jump roping my way to a good sweat, the Versa never got in the way-I barely even noticed it was there. Later in 2018, Fitbit will roll out an update that it says will let the dashboard personalize itself to you over time.

"Most notable is the easing employment outlook for the Mining & Construction sector and the Manufacturing sector, while hiring intentions have picked up in the formerly subdued Wholesale & Retail Trade sector". Among the countries and territories featuring seasonally adjusted data, confidence is strongest in Taiwan, Japan, Hungary and the United States, while the weakest hiring prospects are reported in Italy, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
