Commonwealth Games 2018: Neeraj Chopra wins gold in Men's Javelin Throw

India's Neeraj Chopra celebrates after winning the javelin throw gold medal on Saturday

Earlier Milkha Singh (men's 440 yards), Krishna Poonia (women's discus, 2010) and Vikas Gowda (men's discus, 2014) preceded Neeraj Chopra in Athletics. "I don't think I expected it to go over 86 meters but since the last couple of months, I have worked hard on my fitness, my technique and it all paid off today".

Though the former junior world champion and Asian title victor was happy after achieving the feat, the 20-year-old was not satisfied with his performance. "But I am very happy and I have lot of competitions this year to achieve the personal best", Neeraj said after his triumph.

Neeraj was the favourite to win the gold after Kenya's Julius Yego, the Olympics and world silver medallist, failed to qualify for the final. The young Chopra, who is coached by Garry Calvert, had qualified for the CWG after hurling a spear to a distance of 85.94m in his sixth attempt at the Federations Cup senior national athletics Championships in Patiala.

Janice Dickinson Says She Covered Up Cosby Rape In Her Memoir
Cosby is accused of assaulting her in his residence nearby Philadelphia and committing drugs to college administrator Constand. A jury deadlocked after last year's trial, unable to reach a verdict after more than 52 hours of deliberations over six days.

Neeraj thus became only the second Indian javelin thrower to claim a CWG medal - the first being Kashinath Naik, who fetched a bronze in the 2010 Delhi Games.

"I've been totally relaxed here, I've enjoyed myself", said Chopra, flashing the smile that had a sun-soaked Gold Coast crowd eating out of his hand. Back during his Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneshwar bout, he threw 85.23m, which became the best throw on Indian soil. It builds pressure on others.

"One shouldn't be too serious in life, it's good to be disciplined but you should not overdo food restrictions".

Team Nigeria win 2 bronze medals at Commonwealth Games
Mr Lyonga called on the athletes to re-join the team, saying that they would not face consequences in Cameroon . He said he "doesn't think they'll come back".

"I tried to be natural because I was completely confident in how I've prepared myself".

Vipin Kashana, the other Indian in the fray, took the fifth spot with an attempt of 77.87m. Johnson wiped out the 22-year-old record of Bahadur Prasad set in December 1995, shaving 0.14 seconds off it.

In the men's 4x400m relay, the Indian team had to pull out midway through the race after Amoj Jacob pulled a hamstring. Arpinder's best effort was a 16.46m jump.

Russia: UK staged Douma chemical attack
The Russian defence ministry and the Kremlin have yet to make any comment on the strikes announced by US President Donald Trump. US intelligence shows a Russian claim that the attack was faked was false, Sanders said.

It is only the fourth individual gold for an Indian in the track of CWG history and field sport.
