A woman who works at the clinic complained the toilet was clogged and that is when the plumber was called, The Newsminute reported. On further prodding, it turned out to be the body of a girl. They then tried to pull the infant out, but the body was stuck in the duct as the placenta was still attached to the newborn. Pulling the body out was hard as the placenta was still attached to it. The parents allegedly brought the girl in for a consultation and flushed the baby down the toilet.
Based on the complaint received from Abdul Rahman, the local police have registered a case of unnatural death and probe is underway. Meanwhile, her body has been sent to Thrissur medical college for postmortem.
'There wasn't much of a foul smell emanating from the toilet. The police are also checking all the records of the doctor's patients to ascertain details. However, as the placenta was intact with the baby, the mother could have delivered her inside the washroom and chose to dump her in the commode, said cops. "Seeing the colour of the blood, the domestic worker mistook it for muddy water", the police said, according to The News Minute.
