Searchers located the auto Sunday in the Eel River and recovered the bodies of Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, and Saachi Thottapilly, 9, the Mendocino County sheriff's office said in a statement. Once the body was recovered it was identified as being Siddhant Thottapilly (12), the remaining missing member of the Thottapilly family.

The family - Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, his wife Soumya Thottapilly, 38, and their two kids Siddhanth, 12 and Saachi, 9 - were on a road trip when they reportedly went missing on April 5.

The vehicle was encased in sediment and visibility was poor but divers believed there was at least one body inside, officials said. Mr. Thottapilly and his daughter were found inside a vehicle in about four to six feet of water.

Efforts to recover the vehicle continued for many hours, before the vehicle was partially brought out from the Eel River with the help of a tow truck. This provided searchers the ability to conduct a visual inspection of the inside of the vehicle. As the waters receded, the rescue team recovered some personal items and numerous parts of the vehicle, a maroon Honda Pilot, believed to be driven by the family. The family was driving down to San Jose in Southern California from Portland, Oregon.
