Manchester City are sweating on a court ruling that could leave them with a transfer ban which stops Pep Guardiola building on his side's Premier League title success.

Velez accused Federation Internationale de Football Association of allowing City to break their own rules, claiming they acted unethically by contacting Garre when he was 15 and then flouted transfer regulations by signing the winger shortly after his 16th birthday. They claimed Garre was free to join them when he turned 16 because he holds an Italian passport, but Velez argued Federation Internationale de Football Association rules allowing players under 18 to move clubs only covers teenagers swapping one European side for another.

Velez took their case to CAS after Federation Internationale de Football Association ruled in City's favour, but the South American outfit have seen their claim dismissed.

City were facing the prospect of being banned from registering new players for two transfer windows, after similar punishments were given to Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

In the last 12 months City have signed Benjamin Mendy, Danilo, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Ederson and Aymeric Laporte and those players have helped to make them one of the best teams in all of Europe.

As reported by the Telegraph, the club will not face a two-window transfer embargo after CAS found nothing wrong with the club's activities that year, but Velez will now have the right to appeal the decision. The Premier League club have argued that they acted within the rules, but Velez took the complaint to CAS and a verdict is expected within the next seven days.
