Facebook Suspends 200 More Apps In Wake Of Cambridge Analytica Scandal

The first was to identify all apps that had access to the large amount of data they were allowed under the pre-2014 terms, followed by a second phase in which Facebook makes requests for information, conducts interviews and possibly perform audits or on-site inspections.

Facebook has now hinted at an answer May 14, announcing that it suspended 200 apps as it investigates whether they had misused people's data. The company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised the investigation as one of a number of measures put in place to handle the scandal. Those changes, according to Facebook, significantly reduced the amount of data that apps could access. He also made clear that where we had concerns about individual apps we would audit them - and any app that either refused or failed an audit would be banned from Facebook.

The investigation is ongoing but the site has confirmed hundreds of apps have so far been suspended, pending further analysis of their behaviour.
