Germany and France have significant trade links with Iran and remain committed to the nuclear agreement, as does Britain, and the three countries' foreign ministers plan to meet on Tuesday to discuss it.

The Iranian nuclear deal is a result of multilateral efforts contributing to the protection of the global non-proliferation regime, and supporting peace and stability in the Middle East, Wang added. On May 13, he visited China, and after the talks with Lavrov he will travel to Brussels where he will meet with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and top German, French and British diplomats.

During the call, Rouhani said the United States decision to withdraw from the deal was "unlawful" and "irresponsible".

"We hope that with this visit to China and other countries we will be able to construct a clear future design for the comprehensive agreement", Zarif said.
