In breaking news, there are reports that Queensland and Kangaroos captain Cameron Smith is set to announce his rep retirement this afternoon.

The shock announcement means Queensland will have to appoint a new captain and hooker for the Origin series opener on June 6.

Smith, the most-capped Maroon of all time, leaves a giant void in the Maroons side at hooker; a position he's had locked down in the Queensland side since 2003.

Smith said after failing to back from last year's State of Origin matches for the Storm was a sign to hang up the boots for Queensland and Australia.

OPPO Realme 1 launched in India: Specifications, price and more
While the rest of the specifications look great for a phone in this category, the Realme 1 misses out on a fingerprint sensor. The Realme 1 runs ColorOS 5.0 on top Android 8.1 Oreo while the Redmi Note 5 Pro has the MIUI 9 on top of Android 7 Nougat.

Smith said the strain of the 2017 Origin series and Rugby League World Cup had helped make his mind up.

He captained Australia during the 2013 and 2017 World Cups, winning both.

And Smith has revealed that he would like to continue playing for Melbourne Storm for a couple of more years.

His decision comes on the heels of similar retirements by fellow greats Cooper Cronk and Johnathan Thurston late past year. Smith has won two NRL premierships with the Storm.

"From a personal point of view I would have loved to have played on for a lot longer but unfortunately we don't live in a ideal world and those things don't happen", Smith said.

"It's been a fairly lengthy process for me to come to this decision, I probably started having small thoughts or some thoughts about finishing up my representative career previous year, " Smith said. I started having some small thoughts about finishing up my representative career past year.

"I'd like to think it will give me the opportunity to play on in our domestic competition if it is the right thing for my family and the Melbourne Storm as well".

Cameron Smith knew his decision to call time on his glittering representative career was right when he told Queensland coach Kevin Walters and all he felt was relief.

This move is a part of a larger plan that the company had announced in October 2017, called the Global Transparency Initiative . Kaspersky has refuted the claims .

Smith said he'd started thinking about it previous year, when he was unable to back up and play for the Storm the weekend after each Origin game as he'd done in the past. I've been away from you for a long time but you've always wanted me to pursue my dreams'.
