Driver: Tesla's Autopilot engaged during Utah crash

Elon Musk berates music streaming platforms for “crazy low payouts”

The Tesla Model S that recently smashed into the back of a fire department truck in Utah was on Autopilot at the time of the crash, according to the driver's statement to police. The fire department mechanic truck had been stopped at a red light. Police said the driver, who suffered a broken ankle, said she had been using Autopilot before the crash.

There was no immediate comment from Tesla about Schwall. The driver of the Tesla, who was taken to the hospital with a broken foot, has yet to be named, and police reported she did not brake before impact of the crash.

The Autopilot system is not capable of full self-driving operation, but rather an advanced form of semi-autonomous driving that still has a few glaring limitations.

On Twitter, co-founder Elon Musk said it was "super messed up" that the incident was garnering public attention, while thousands of accidents involving traditional automobiles "get nearly no coverage". "What's actually incredible about this accident is that a Model S hit a fire truck at 60 miles per hour and the driver only broke an ankle".

Fans want Priyanka Chopra to play Pakistani-Muslim superhero Ms Marvel
Several fans voiced their support for Chopra - but some said the role should go to a Pakistani-American rather than Indian. According to Slash Film, the Marvel character is vibrant, peppy, and awkward with the abilities to shape-shift.

Complicating Tesla's problems, however, have been reports of a series of recent crashes that have resulted in several deaths and injuries.

Just last week, the NTSB opened an investigation into a case where a fatal Fort Lauderdale crash raised eyebrows, as it was the agency's fourth active probe into the automaker's electric vehicles.

The NTSB and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are investigating at least two other crashes involving Tesla vehicles. The 18 year-old driver slammed into a concrete wall, and the vehicle burst into flames, trapping the occupants inside. The agency has said it does not expect the semi-autonomous system to be a focus of that investigation.

Killed As Taliban Militants Storm Farah City
Local reporters said the city was empty and shops, schools and government offices are closed as people hid inside their houses. Deadly clashes re-erupted in Farah early morning as the Taliban launched a second round of coordinated assaults in the week.

In April, Musk was asked by "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King, "what's the goal of having autopilot if you still have to put your hands on the wheel?" Now, Musk has said in the email to the Tesla staff that it was "flattening the management structure to improve communication", and cutting activities that are not "not vital to the success of our mission".

Back in March, an Uber in self-driving mode hit and killed a woman in Tempe, Arizona.

The driver of the Tesla may face charges for failing to maintain the safety of her vehicle, which would be a traffic infraction, according to police spokesman Sgt. Samuel Winkler.

A Tesla spokesperson told Newsweek on Tuesday: "Tesla has not yet received any data from the auto and thus does not know the facts of what occurred, including whether Autopilot was engaged".
