Is Torture Immoral or Not? What Say You, Ms. Haspel?

Underneath questioning Wednesday in entrance of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Haspel mentioned she wouldn't allow the CIA to restart the tough interrogation program it beforehand ran, including that she did not "imagine that torture works". Many Democrat senators were against Haspel's appointment as she failed to answer questions pertaining to the enhanced interrogation program during the Bush administration.

The CIA's interrogation program is in the spotlight again as Gina Haspel - who once ran a secret Thailand prison that used waterboarding - is poised to become CIA director, if she can get confirmed by the US Senate.

Pennsylvanians set to go to polls for primaries on Tuesday
Democratic voters can vote for up to four male candidates and up to four female candidates for the state Democratic Committee. The Republicans are Rick Saccone (who lost to Conor Lamb in the nationally watched special election) and Guy Reschenthaler.

Cheney, who said he's "not one of those people that calls it torture", added: "I supported it wholeheartedly, I still do to this day". Joe Manchin (WV) and Joe Donnelly (IN).

With the Republican Party holding only a 51-49 margin in the Senate, cut to 50-49 in practice because of McCain's long absence due to terminal brain cancer, the shift of even one senator had the potential to torpedo the nomination.

Waterboarding is not torture!

US Embassy opening in Jerusalem is nail in coffin of peace process
The Arab League plans to convene an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways to challenge the "illegal" move of the U.S. Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem "a day of great shame".

While most Senate Democrats, including Intelligence Committee veterans like Dianne Feinstein, have announced their opposition to Haspel's nomination, their pretensions to oppose torture and demand a higher moral standard in the CIA leadership are belied by their own records.

Haspel's specific role in the program remains classified. "It goes, I think, deeper than that, and that is the foreign policy that we have seen from Mr. Trump".

Moments later, Haspel, however, rushed to clarify that the CIA's methods in general in the aftermath of 9/11 were effective.

Six Premier League stars in Brazil's World Cup squad
Brazil have named injured Paris St-Germain forward Neymar in their 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation . He said the national team, seeking a record sixth championship, stands out for being "aggressive, scoring goals".

Before that, Ms. Haspel needs to secure more Republican votes with Mr. Paul, a Kentuckian known for his independent streak and libertarian views, at the center of the confirmation drama.
