Waterloo school board receives donated internet service
This year, school elections lack the drama they once held.
Polls are open until 9 p.m.in most school districts.
According to a Kershaw County School District press release issued early Friday morning, the school board conducted initial interviews this week for the position in an effort to find candidates who best fit the leadership profile developed using input from previous meetings with employees and community members as well as an online survey.
The Mamaroneck school district is also asking voters to override the tax cap.
District Superintendent Joseph Graves said funding for the salary agreement will be covered by the percentage increase in state funding, plus funds from a one-time state reimbursement package.

The Mamaroneck school district is seeking approval for a $138.9 million budget, which is up 2.84 percent over the current spending package.
Voters will decide on a proposed $61.32 million 2018-19 budget that would increase the district tax levy by 3.21 percent, or $1.32 million, to $42.38 million.
For some districts this year, the toughest question was not whether to remain within their caps - that was a given - but whether to remain well below those maximum tax limits as a signal to local residents that they understood the strain imposed by property taxes.
"The board has really looked at a multi-year picture".
The board voted to close the three schools at the end of this school year.

In Hampton Bays, voters will be asked to cast ballots approving its proposed $52.5 million operating budget for the 2018-19 school year.
During an Operations Work Group meeting, board members agreed not to pursue a proposed change to board policy that would have given the board president the ability to deny or alter requests for district information made by other board members. Jason Shover, an incumbent, is running unopposed for his seat.
The proposed tax levy increase is 4.27%, which is below the New York State property tax cap of 4.57% that applies to East Greenbush, requiring a simple majority to pass the budget. The board also shaved a mill off the tax rate a year ago. Additionally, the district has forecast a decrease in the tax rate from $11.50 per $1,000 of assessed value to $11.15 per $1,000.
And in Westhampton Beach, both candidates are unopposed.
