De Niro, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of boxer Jake LaMotta in the 1980 film "Raging Bull", got a standing ovation at the Tony Awards on Sunday with his denunciation of President Trump.

Two days after De Niro's outburst on the stage of the Tony Awards ceremony in New York, Trump said he had watched the clip "and (I) truly believe he may be punch drunk".

But in a tweet, Mr Trump described the actor as "a very Low IQ individual".

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof: 'I'm learning from Jose Mourinho'
Mourinho's been busy in the transfer market and has looked to wrap up his business before the World Cup kicks off on June 14. The 30-year-old joined United from Everton in 2013 and has since scored 20 goals for the club in 155 appearances.

He said he would move to Italy if Mr Trump was elected, and the town where his great-grandparents lived offered him "refuge" when this happened.

President Trump defended himself against De Niro's attack by praising the economy under his watch. Tuesday afternoon, President Trump tweeted: "Robert De Niro, a very Low IQ individual, has received to many shots to the head by real boxers in movies".

Before introducing his friend "Jersey Boy" Bruce Springsteen to the stage, De Niro immediately expressed his views on the president.

This is not the first time that De Niro has made his thoughts on Trump known.

The actor went on to say that as long as America's "leadership is so appalling and so corrupt" he'll be "speaking out at every turn".

Ahead of the 2016 presidential election, De Niro said he'd like to "punch [Trump] in the face". On Tuesday, De Niro apologized for "the idiotic behavior of my president" in a speech at the groundbreaking of a restaurant in Toronto, CNN reported. "It's a disgrace.
