U.S., Mexico and Canada to host 2026 World Cup

US Mexico and Canada to host 2026 World Cup

A united bid of the U.S., Canada and Mexico was awarded the right Wednesday to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A total of 200 delegates representing every country registered with Federation Internationale de Football Association cast their vote, selecting the North American bid 134 to 65 over a bid from Morocco, with one voting for neither bid. North America's bid won the vote in the first round, and with surprising ease: 134 votes to Morocco's 65.

In March, B.C. Premier John Horgan said he was not willing to write a "blank cheque" to have Vancouver host soccer matches for the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

Military says it's received no guidance about canceling Korean war games
Trump disclosed no cost for the exercises, and the Pentagon did not respond to requests for that information Tuesday morning. One of them, Foal Eagle, involves field maneuvers, with about 11,500 USA troops and 290,000 South Koreans participating.

A spokesperson said: "We congratulate the USA, Canada and Mexico on winning the bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup".

Team Canada player and Whitecaps forward Alphonso Davies shares his story of being welcomed with open arms by Canadians and explains that he knows the people of North America will do the same for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ if the United Bid wins the vote. Under the United Bid proposal, the list of host cities for the world's most watched sporting event likely will include two or three in Canada, three in Mexico and 10 in the United States. It will be the first World Cup since the 2002 edition in South Korea and Japan in which multiple countries will host. Canada has never hosted a men's World Cup, though it was the site of the 2015 Women's World Cup.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in October both Blatter and ex-UEFA head Michel Platini, who was also suspended following an ethics investigation, would be welcome at the World Cup as "old friends" of the Russian president.

SCO summit focused on counter-terrorism: Putin
Asked if Mrs May believed she had been snubbed, a Downing Street spokeswoman replied: "No". A Canadian official said Trump and Trudeau discussed accelerating NAFTA talks.

Two Miami residents - newly-elected U.S. Soccer President Carlos Cordeiro and Donna Shalala, a U.S. Soccer board member - were deeply involved in the bid process.

Which cities will host the World Cup matches? Canada, Mexico and the US are home to a combined 491 million people and two of the world's biggest media markets.

"I wanted to underline FIFA's commitment to the principle of sports without politics", Putin said during a FIFA Congress in Moscow while standing next to the World Cup trophy. It will also be the first tournament to be hosted by three countries, Goal reported. The Switzerland-based organization reports its revenue in four-year cycles, and most recently claimed $5.7 billion for the cycle culminating in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

World Cup giants limber up in Russian Federation as atmosphere builds
Austria only half cleared and Marcelo's drive deflected to Jesus for the forward to curl in from an angle. That goal puts him joint-third top goalscorer with Romario.

"We believe strongly that this decision will be made on its merits", Cordeiro, the bid leader, told reporters.
