Trump: Trudeau criticism will cost Canada 'a lot of money'

Trump Adviser Apologizes For Saying Trudeau 'Deserved Special Place In Hell'

At a news conference after his meeting with Mr Kim, the President said the Canadian leader must not have realised that Mr Trump had televisions on Air Force One, allowing him to monitor Mr Trudeau's news conference at the end of the G7 summit.

At an event hosted by the Journal, Navarro said he had made a mistake, according to the newspaper.

"The problem was that in conveying that message I used language that was inappropriate", he said.

White House trade adviser Pete Navarro has apologised for sharp comments he made about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, US media report.

"I want to pay a particular tribute to Prime Minister Trudeau for his leadership and skilful chairing, which enabled us after two days of negotiation between leaders to agree actions and a shared approach on some of the most pressing challenges facing the global community and our citizens", she said.

Mr Trump's top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, suggested that Mr Trump saw Mr Trudeau as trying to weaken his hand before the summit with Mr Kim.

The most exciting games from Square Enix's E3 showcase
The December 8 release date does seem to suggest a very optimistic view of its chances though. But, there were a few reveals that made Square Enix's showcase worth checking out.

The Trump administration took umbrage at an ally publicly criticizing US policy just before a historic meeting with Kim Jong-Un. But he also said that critical comments from Justin Trudeau would cost Canada "a lot of money". Mr. Trudeau especially objected to the Trump administration's justification of the tariffs, saying Ottawa isn't a national security threat to Washington. "Canada. Maybe we need a northern wall", he said. "I own that, that was my mistake, my words", he said at a Journal conference.

Trump has consistently railed against what he claims are unfair trade practices by some of America's biggest trade partners, including Canada - in particular Canada's supply management system, which levels tariffs of up to 300 per cent on imported dairy products.

Trump followed through on his tweet by pulling US support for a G-7 communique.

But despite the rows over trade and Russia, Mr Trump rated his relationship with other G7 leaders as 10 out of 10. Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland first announced "dollar-for-dollar tariffs" against the USA on May 31.

"We have been encouraging the federal government to engage with China on free-trade talks because there is such significant potential in that market", said Bilous.

The Trump administration is proceeding with plans to impose tariffs on at least $50 billion of Chinese goods over accusations of intellectual property theft.

The apology could ease tensions after Canada's parliament condemned the personal attack on Trudeau and as Canada's Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland gets ready to meet with members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday in Washington.
