Apple Might Be Releasing the New iPhone in Blue, Red, & Orange
06 July 2018, 06:38 | Casey Mitchell
Apple might release new iPhone colors this year, including red, blue, and orange (AAPL)
The choice of colors also raises questions. The company is expected to launch three new iPhone devices this year - a refreshed 5.8-inch iPhone X, a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone with slim bezels, and a larger 6.5-inch OLED display iPhone with dual-SIM support.
Renowned analyst and Apple-watcher Ming-Chi Kuo (who previously worked for KGI Securities, but moved to TF International Securities in April) claims that Apple is gearing up to release a cheaper iPhone later this year in a range of new colors. Per 9to5Mac, the rumored 6.5-inch OLED iPhone is to arrive in black, white, and a new gold, while the 6.1-inch variation is optioned in grey, white, blue, red, and orange. The iPhone X comes in silver and black.
"The new 6.1" LCD iPhone is expected to boost better-replacement demands than iPhone 8/8s did due to being equipped with full-screen, Face ID, selling price lower than $700 USD, DSDS and five possible casing colors (grey, white, blue, red, and orange).
It is unclear if the red color Kuo is referring to here is Product (RED) color or not. It could also mean that Apple will release a standard Red variant of its 6.1-inch iPhone and not a Product (Red) one.
Thanks to a pricing strategy that will cater to a wider audience and bunch of new colors, Kuo expects the 2018 iPhones to do very well in terms of sales and ship 70 million units in Q4 this year. This would be the most colors an iPhone has come in since the iPhone 5c in 2013.
