July Xbox Update Brings Game Groups and FastStart

Xbox One's fast-loading feature rolls out today
Today we're having a peek at the insides of the July Xbox Update, and what it means to partake in its greatness. The update will include "FastStart", which is a feature created to address one of the biggest frustrations of modern gaming: Being forced to wait for your titles to download before you can play them. This way, you don't have to wait for the entire game to download to start playing it, which is very helpful if you don't have a very speedy internet connection.
FastStart uses machine learning to identify which files are needed first and prioritize those downloads so you can jump into a game faster while the rest of the file finishes. It's now in Xbox Game Preview with an official launch coming later, and this Xbox One version has brought a few updates with it. It's that simple. What's more, it's now enabled for select English language titles in our Xbox Game Pass catalog, and will expand to more games in more languages over time. However, in the case of both consoles, it's a coin toss how much of the game is actually available to you when you reach the playable threshold.
According to the FastStart FAQ, the download times (at least until the playable threshold) for games with the feature enabled are about half of what they would be normally. Moreover, these groups will sync to your Microsoft account, so they'll show up on other consoles that you own. You can add groups to Home and Guide, and there should be one Group made as soon as your update is complete. Now pressing the Y button anywhere in the dashboard will bring up the search dialog, allowing you to easily launch your content, sift through Settings, or find products in the Store.
