Travis Pastrana honored legendary daredevil Evel Knievel Sunday night when he attempted three of Knievel's most risky jumps, in a row, on Evel Live.
The event, which aired on the History Channel's "Evel Live", featured Pastrana in a Knievel costume clearing 52 crushed cars in a 143-foot jump and 16 Greyhound buses in a 192-foot jump.
The 34-year-old action sports star vaulted over 52 flattened cars and 16 Greyhound buses in a vacant lot behind Planet Hollywood Resort before successfully landing a jump over the ornamental fountains at Caesars Palace - a stunt that almost took his predecessor's life on New Year's Day 1967.
After his first two jumps over the cars and buses, Pastrana had a police escort while riding the same motorcycle along Las Vegas Boulevard all while popping wheelies and stopping to high-five and shake hands with fans.
Ten killed, dozens injured in Turkey train derailment
In January 2008, nine people were killed when a train derailed in the Kutahya region south of Istanbul due to faulty rails. Television footage shows rescuers heading to the crash site, and victims pulled from the carriages.
"It's just such an honor to live a day in Evel's footsteps, and literally his boots", Pastrana said.
The stunt was famously attempted by legendary stuntman Evel Knievel in 1967 that rustled in him crushing his pelvis and femur, fracturing bones in his hips, wrists and ankles and was reportedly hospitalized with a coma in for 29 days. He died in 2007 at the age of 69. And to replicate the kind of bikes his predecessor jumped, Pastrana will do it on an Indian Scout FTR750 - not one of the much lighter motorcross dirt bikes typically ridden in the X Games events.
Travis Pastrana jumps the fountain at Caesars Palace on a motorcycle Sunday, July 8, 2018, in Las Vegas. To be here, in Las Vegas, so much of my history has been here.
"So thank you to everyone watching, and thank you to all in Evel's family for coming out and helping my dream come true". Where, I'm jumping basically a street bike. "I'm not done yet, but this was definitely the coolest thing I've ever been able to do".
Iran Executes Eight Terrorists Over Deadly ISIS Attacks In Tehran
The Iranian government has been battling ISIS for over three years both inside Iraq and in Syria. Meanwhile, Qassemi said that economic ties between Iran and Germany are on their normal path.
"This (jumping the fountain) is definitely the most technical".
With less than 200 feet to get his bike up to about 70 miles an hour, Pastrana soared over the iconic Caesar's Palace fountains in Las Vegas, and made it look easy.
"This was so cool, such an epic time", Pastrana told The History Channel.
Even with just a 200-foot run-off area, Pastrana made the final and most hard jump (a record length of 149 feet) look easy, even performing a NASCAR-style two-wheeled burnout in celebration.
Starbucks, citing environment, is ditching plastic straws
A number of local governments have recently passed legislation restricting the use and distribution of plastic straws. Several other USA cities have already implemented similar bans, or have proposed legislation in the works.
