Boris Johnson's resignation a selfish act, says Guto Bebb

10 July 2018, 06:25 | Glen Norman

The following day, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson - another key Brexit player, and someone who originally campaigned for Brexit back in 2016 - chose to follow suit.

Mr Barnier refused to comment on the spate of resignations which wreaked havoc to on Monday, throwing the Prime Minister's Cabinet into turmoil.

Boris Johnson's resignation dominates Tuesday's United Kingdom front pages, with papers bitterly divided over the former foreign secretary's dramatic exit from cabinet, and what it means for Theresa May.

But it soon began to unravel when Davis resigned late on Sunday and launched a no-holds-barred attack on her plan, calling it "dangerous" and one which would give "too much away, too easily" to European Union negotiators, who would simply ask for more.

IOS 11.4.1 update improves Find My AirPods feature
There isn't anything in the way of new features, instead delivering on some bug fixes and stability improvements. Apple curiously didn't include the security in the release notes, probably to not alert "interested parties".

May said the plan would deliver frictionless trade with Europe and was the "only way to avoid a hard border" between the U.K.'s Northern Ireland and European Union member Ireland. Pro-Europeans want to retain close economic ties with the bloc and its market of 500 million people, while some, but not all, Brexit supporters want a clean break to make it possible to strike new trade deals around the world.

Top Brexiteer Michael Gove, an ally of Mr Davis, Mr Johnson and also Mrs May, said everybody was "in very good spirits".

Mairead McGuinness, vice president of the European Parliament, said the fact the white paper will still be published on Thursday "bodes well" for ploughing ahead with presenting the plan to the EU. "This mess is all of the Prime Ministers own making", opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn told lawmakers.

May has hung on to power longer than many expected after she lost her majority in a June 2017 snap election that she had called in hopes of strengthening her hand in Brexit talks. It fell as much as 0.7 percent on Monday after Johnson's resignation. David Davis and Steve Baker clearly realised that the promises they and their colleagues made about Brexit simply can not be delivered.

Baby found buried alive in Missoula County mountains
Authorities soon learned that a 5-month-old baby, who had been left in Crowley's care, had been missing for several hours. Eventually, Crowley told the deputies the infant was possibly buried somewhere in the mountains, Bassett said.

Mrs May has now appointed Dominic Raab and Jeremy Hunt to replace Mr Davis and Mr Johnson.

She earlier faced her critics at a packed meeting of backbench Conservative MPs, many of whom share Mr Johnson's concerns about her Brexit stance.

It comes as the Tory government tries to get a handle of infighting over how best to deal with Brexit.

May was asked by an opposition lawmaker Monday whether she would contest a vote of confidence if one came rather than resign.
