"Republicans are holding four lottery tickets, and all of them are winners", Mr.

"The Supreme Court has accepted more and more limitations on abortion over time as it's gotten more conservative, so I suspect this will continue", she said.

They are hoping to persuade Republican Senate moderates to vote against Kavanaugh.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana said he was bracing for a tough confirmation battle as Democrats focus on abortion. But four Democrats from states Trump won in 2016 voted to confirm Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch previous year, leaving the Republicans room for error.

Showtime Sets Sacha Baron Cohen’s TV Return ‘Who Is America?’
U.S. broadcaster Showtime is behind series, dubbing it "perhaps the most unsafe TV show in history". The one-two punch of The Ali G Show , followed by his Borat movie, was nothing less than incredible.

"The Democrats are so upset that the Republicans have this opportunity of appointing nominees to the court that they just make every doggone appointment a cause celeb, and that's just ridiculous", he said. "So red-state Democrats are going to have a very hard decision".

"I'm not sure I'm leaning anywhere on those four nominees".

"He's a good man and I like him", Casey said of Hardiman.

Democrats are already lining up against Kavanaugh as too conservative.

Track record: Barrett's recent ascension to the appeals court means she does not have the long, conservative record that lawmakers on the right find reassuring.

As a counterweight, a new liberal interest group, Demand Justice, plans to spend as much as $5 million to push the moderate Democrats to hold fast against the nominee, as well as attempt to persuade moderate Republican senators Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska to oppose Kavanaugh. Previously, Collins voted for Gorsuch because of his belief in the significance of precedent. "No president has ever consulted more widely or talked with more people from more backgrounds to seek input about a Supreme Court nomination". Many, including Leo, believe that it was a major contributing factor to his victory in 2016. Kavanaugh was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in May 2006. Judge Thomas Hardiman is a US appeals court judge that The Washington Post reports is a "Second Amendment extremist". And she recently made it through the confirmation process, with the Senate approving her nomination to be an appeals court judge in October.

While Kethledge and Hardiman may be easier to confirm, Barrett and Kavanaugh have the biggest name recognition among conservatives.

Barrett has a thin resume as a judge but has amassed a formidable and respected body of scholarly work. Trump has been struggling with Kavanaugh's association with the Bush family, however, an issue the Post calls the "Bush factor".

Heitkamp, Donnelly and Manchin were the three Democratic senators who voted for Trump's last Supreme Court pick, Neil Gorsuch, who replaced the late Antonin Scalia on the bench in 2017.

The high court handed Trump and his administration a series of victories in its term that ended on the day of Kennedy's retirement, including a major decision upholding the president's travel ban targeting people from several Muslim-majority countries. "You can't go wrong".
